MailingList gives you 2 extra lists for mail-sendee autocompletion. A global list that all your same-realm toons share, and a personal list for each toon. So, you can now use your friends list for actual friends!!!!
I have a lot of alts, and my wife has a ton too! Consequently, my friends list was mostly composed of my alts and hers. That way we could easily use mail-sendee autocompletion to easily send mail back and forth between our alts and each other's toons.
This mod lets you keep 2 _additional_ lists for auto-completion: A global list that is shared between all your toons. And a personal list unique for each toon.
The sendee autocompletion priority:
Personal List --> Global List --> Friends ---> Guild Members
Visit the forums at http://piramod.com for help!
USAGE:
- Type /gml to access the gloabl mailing list for all your toons on the realm. The global mailing list overides your friends list!
- Type /pml to access the current toon's personal mailing list. The personal mailing list overides the global mailing list.
P.S. Try PiraMod!!

Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

piranther saidNot with this mod. It merely keeps a list of names to use for autocompletion of the "sendee" field in your mailbox. I find it super handy, but it's not for mass-mailings (I can see how the name "MailingList" could be misleading, sorry!).

Tested in mail send field, these 4 purely fictional toons now show in autocomplete.
Request: Allow unsorted names or a priority system...
The actual names I used were sorted in alpha.
If I send to Azure all the time, I want it to show Azure when I press A... not Appleman.
Thanks. Keep it simple, I like that. Its better than the others I've seen. I'm in some really big guilds and found it not helpful when addons force the guild member list into the autocomplete list. The search goes on....

CoreTwo saidDoes this one give total control over what will autocomplete?
On some alts I want guild, on others I only want my alts and select friends who I mail to.
Description says Personal List --> Global List --> Friends ---> Guild Members
Great but can I turn off global and guild selectively on each toon?
I love the blackbook in postal - but it doesn't autocomplete...

piranther saidNo sorry, it doesn't let you turn off Global or Guild. But that's a good idea! I have been thinking about doing some more work on this mod. I'll definitely add this to my list of things to look into. :D

piranther saidNot sure I understand. The default WoW UI now lets you attach multiple items to a single mail by right clicking each item (or drag-n-drop). Am I misunderstanding?

RealUnimportant saidWould love to use your forums but I can't, it's locked in maintenance mode.
This mod is missing one crucial thing in order to make it perfect: per server/per faction lists. I see little point in giving all my characters the same local mailing list when they could all work off the global list if only that list would not include characters on other factions or servers...
For example say I have chars Fred and Wilma on Alliance side, and Barney and Betty on Horde side, both on the same PvE server. Then on a PvP server I have 2 more Horde characters, Fred and Ginger.
When I'm using the mail on the PvE server, I might want to send post to my friend William on Horde side, yet I will be shown Wilma as a valid option despite it being impossible to mail anything to her. Likewise, Fred on the PvP server would be shown Wilma when trying to post items to Wilhelm.
Any way you could build this in?

piranther saidI'll explain.
When you use CT_MailMod to send mail- As you type in the name of the person to send the mail TO, it will auto-complete the name using this priority order: Friends --> Guild.
I have a lot of alts, and my wife has a ton too! So my friends list was mostly composed of my alts and hers, so that we could easily send things back and forth between all of our own and each other's toons. This mod lets you keep 2 additional lists for auto-completion: A global list, that is shared between all your toons. And a personal list unique for each of your toons. So, if you use this mod, the autocompletion priority will be: Personal List --> Global List --> Friends ---> Guild.
Does that help?
