  • About Goblin Positioning System
  •

GPS provides you with your current coordinates in World of Warcraft. You can then save these coordinates or enter new ones. The data you enter will be shown on the worldmap and on the minimap. It's easy then to track stuff and remember where things are.

Your location

Your current location is shown in a little frame which can be drag/dropped where you want on screen. To achieve this, just click on the figures and drag the frame.

Add new locations in current zone

To see the interface, just click on the compass in the location frame, it will open the management interface. You can then enter a new location by typing its X/Y coordinates as found on other sites (Wowhead or Thottbot for example). You can also focus something with the mouse and click on the small arrow next to the decription field, it will fill your current location with your focused object/NPC coordinates. Then click Save to save what you typed.

This will add a dot in your minimap and on your worldmap. If the location you entered is not close to you, it will be shown with an arrow in the minimap.

    Actually, the compass is in a draggable frame, which means you can move it anywhere you want to see it (I personnaly put it in the bottom left corner). To drag it, just click on the figures and move it where you like.

    To launch the management interface, just click on the compass.

    Hi there,

    I had the same problem, so I had to edit the “GPS.xml file. I have tested it on a 22 inch wide screen with a screen resolution 1680 – 1050. I think it should work on other resolutions too. If it doesn’t work you can put different values in the Anchorpoint (BOTTOMLEFT, BOTTOMRIGHT, TOPLEFT, TOPRIGHT, CENTER, LEFT or RIGHT) and in the “X” and “Y” AbsDimension (X=”100”: the position is going right, X=”-100”: the position is going right, Y=”100”: the position is going up, and Y=”-100”: the position is going down)

    You have to edit the “GPS.xml” file and look for the following text lines:

    For the small GPS icon: look for the word “GPSCoordsFrame” <Frame name="GPSCoordsFrame" movable="true" enableMouse="true" frameStrata="HIGH" toplevel="true" hidden="true" parent="UIParent"> - <Size>

     <AbsDimension x="100" y="32" /> </Size>

    - <Anchors> - <Anchor point="CENTER"> - <Offset>

     <AbsDimension x="0" y="0" />

    By changing it to the following values below, you will put it just under your small map in right upper corner off your screen.

    - <Frame name="GPSCoordsFrame" movable="true" enableMouse="true" frameStrata="HIGH" toplevel="true" hidden="true" parent="UIParent"> - <Size>

     <AbsDimension x="100" y="32" /> </Size>

    - <Anchors> - <Anchor point="TOPRIGHT"> - <Offset>

     <AbsDimension x="-30" y="-172" /> </Offset>

    For the GPS frame wher you can put the data in: look for the word “GPSFrame”

    - <Frame name="GPSFrame" movable="true" frameStrata="DIALOG" toplevel="true" hidden="true" parent="UIParent"> - <Size>

     <AbsDimension x="320" y="380" /> </Size>

    - <Anchors> - <Anchor point="CENTER"> - <Offset>

     <AbsDimension x="0" y="50" />

    By changing it to the following values below, you will put it just under your small map in right upper corner off your screen.

    - <Frame name="GPSFrame" movable="true" frameStrata="DIALOG" toplevel="true" hidden="true" parent="UIParent"> - <Size>

     <AbsDimension x="320" y="380" /> </Size>

    - <Anchors> - <Anchor point="RIGHT"> - <Offset>

     <AbsDimension x="-100" y="25" />

    Why would the dots not show up on the world map, but the mini map works fine?

  • Would you please update this to version 2.3 please. Also could you add dif color dots? This would help with questing. Also, this is the best mod I have seen!

    P.S. To move it you click on the cords not the compass.

  • Great Addon. Would like to know if its possible to have the display list all the coordinates that you have imported instead of displaying them by area that the were created? Peace out!
