Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Summix saidThis is my comment about MoveAnything, a mod that DragQueen might improve upon:
MoveAnything is an excellent idea, but the mod could be improved. It lacks an "undo all" function. I tried it, found freedom to rearrange my setup any way I knew how.....then I did not like the result. I guess the best customization mod is only as good as the customizer, since I don't know how to do much. It won't uninstall like a mod should, and my screen is unplayable.
2 things I want to be able to do: uninstall it just like most other mods; and get my setup back to the way it was. Could you add these features in a future update? Or at least a plugin that saves or backs up a setup?
Any advice for now? I cannot get rid of MoveAnything, but I could live with it, if only I could Move Everything back.

RealUnimportant saidTo undo the changes made with MoveAnything, firstly uninstall it. Next, go to your {WoW Directory}\WTF\account\{accountname}\{server}\{character} folder and delete the file called layout-cache.txt - this is the file that stores the position of most onscreen elements, except the ones that save their locations in their own datafiles (and they shouldn't be affected by MoveAnything's changes once it has been removed).
Obviously, for thie to work WoW itself needs to be shut down beforehand, and after you restart everything except your chatboxes will be back in their default positions.

piranther saidI'm going to try dragqueen in combo with auctionfilter plus and see if I can't find a work-around (I'm sure I can). :D
EDIT: Perhaps I fixed it accidentally. I can't duplicate the problem.

HunterZ saidI've also seen hundreds of AuctionFilterPlus errors, and when I disable that it blames my raid frames instead, and if I disable those it points to Ace (I haven't tried disabling Ace). If I am still able to reproduce the issue I'll try disabling DQ.

piranther saidslade8,
I went ahead and installed BugGrabber and BugSack.
I also installed AuctionFilterPlus, and I already use XPerl unitframes.
I ran a dozen or so AB's and the only errors I received came from CT_RaidAssist.
Could you post me a list of all the mods you use? I can play around with them and figure out what i need to workaround. Thanks!

piranther saidslade8,
I've never used buggrabber before. I'll give it a try later on today and see if I can't figure out what's going on!

slade8 saidThis seems to be causing massive amounts of errors when used with mods like X-Perl or auction filter plus when in raid groups. When I disable this mod everything works fine and I don't get any errors (by massive I mean buggrabber is listing 700+).

piranther saidSlade8, Good idea to add the LFG window. I'll do that in the next release! Thanks!
kaplow, Thank you for the compliment!
Zidomo, I will definitely check this out. Thanks for the bug report! :D

Zidomo saidFabulous to see this back. MobileFrames out of Cosmos is still bloated and not totally WoW 2.x compatible.
Got an error with this in a 10-person raid last night, though.
No specifics on what was happening when the error occurred, though. Just that the error was recorded. May have been in or out of combat.

thegabbert saidDragQueen.lua:33 "if not myBar or not byMar:GetParent() then" should be "if not myBar or not myBar:GetParent() then"
Small issue: if I have two frames open and I move them both and then close one, the remaining one resets itself. Otherwise, very useful. :)
