About ChatMOD

ChatMOD is a universal Chat Enhancemend. Original this was called "Sol's Color chat Nicks - SCCN" but after many people told me that they hardly find this mod I decided to rename it to it's actual purpose.

So What can ChatMOD do for me ?

ChatMOD provides many features which makes chatting / communication InGame much easier. To grab some examples: It color the nicknames of chat participants in their class color, stores this information in a database, provide modificaton of the chatframe like mouse scrolling, button hiding, chat editbox movement, channel name striping, channel name shortening, text highlighting, sound notifications, and many many more. The target was to build one Addon which contain the most important chat enhancements. So for the user it is easier to update one Addon than updating 10 addons after each patch.

Will this Addon be Updated steadily ?

More or less, Yes. But as every Addon author I'm doing this in my sparetime besides the Gameplay itself. So on first priority is my Druid on EU-Aegwynn but because I'm started to develop this Addon in the beginning for my own purpose I will update it as long as I'm plaing wow. And at the moment I don't have any plan to quit ;) So If you have any Suggestions or wan't to offer any support, feel free to contact me.

Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Contrary to the description above, posting on solariz's ChatMOD forum does require registration.

Unfortunately the registration page appears to be broken. I assume it's supposed to display an image containing the "anti-spammer" password?

Just thought I would say thanks for this great addon. Couldn't do without it now saves me ignoring those important PUG Group whispers thanks to the very loud sheep ;)

my issue is i have 2 chats windows 1 for the default chats and the other is for loots and whispers only but for some reasons after log off the saved configuration doesnt make any effect and when i turn off the chatmod im able to save my configuration plz need some help ty

These chat errors are not the result of addons. Blizzard's modifications to chat with the 2.4 patches have caused the filters to reset/not save after logging off.

The chat filters not saving in the general chat window is a known issue for the 2.4 WoW game patch. There's a long thread in the official Bug Report Forum about this issue, and it hasn't been fixed as of the 2.4.1 patch.

I have the same problem, Tricker. But even if I stop using chatmod, the problem continues. It might be caused by ctmod, do you use it?

but when i installed it it got the following error:

interface\framexml\chatframe.lua:2141:attempt to compare string with number.

work for people. I tried the /chatmod shortchanname and it says it activates but nothing happens?
It also is not show a ON/OFF switch in the c.panel, but that maybe right.

Is there anyway you can disable certain names from popping in the class color

theres a warrior named Still on my server, so anytime anyone says still in chat (which is all the time) it comes up brown.....very annoying

Ok, great stuff execpt.. When at a trainers place (Mining trainer, or [Class]trainer) it auto goes into the training menu! IS this disable? Because there's alot of Q's i can't do because of that "Thing" please respond!

Does this have a sticky chat option? Where it will automatically open up the last chat channel you used when you hit enter? It's handy for player created channels and I can't find a working mod to do it.
