Browsing / Searching Files (Formerly named Addons)

The index for this section can be found here: http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/ and serves as your starting portal for files. There are three "categories" of files, namely: Addons, Patches, Tools, all of which are described under this page.

Browsing

The idea is that the old style of "categories" has been replaced with what is called "labels". A label is a tag that is appended to any file which is uploaded. It needs to be noted that each file can have more than one label, an example of that is Atlas, which at the time of writing has multiple. What this essentially means is that this addon will show under the browsing for both compilation and raid labels. Additionally the browsing of each label can be sorted by rating, date, name etc. On the top of the page is a large list of labels, where the most used labels have larger font size than the other ones. In order to browse addon of that type/label, simply click the label and think of it as a category! If you simply wish to just browse all addons, there is a link for this on the bottom of the page divided into the 3 categories with descriptions. Simply click the category to start browsing freely!

Searching

An example of what the search page looks like can be found here. This pages should not require much explanation, but I will give a brief explanation anyways. If you wish to search for a specific name of a file, the top search input field is where you input the name you are searching for. Below you can select additional options, such as file type (patch, addon, tool) or which game version you wish to view result for. Should you input a label, as soon as you hit "update" the label you input will take effect for browsing and another label field will become available for further customization. From here, you can sort your search results easily by date, name, score etc.

Navigating the Details for File Page

Next up is the detailed page for a file, in this case we will use the addon Atlas to illustrate. Firstly, if you are the author of a file project, on the top of the page you will see a drop down box where you can manage/edit/update your file project.

updatedaddons

Below, on the page with details you will find a plus (+) and a minus (-) button next to a number. This is the score for this mod. You can increase or decrease the rating by clicking on either button. Note that you can only "vote" once for each addon.

Scrolling down on the page will bring you to the icons for downloading a file or adding that file to your favorites. Note that there currently is no mouse-over effect for these icons.

Even further below are the screenshots (if available) of said files graphic appearance, a list of the various downloads availble and finally the comments section. Again you will notice the plus (+) and minus (-) icons around a number, which are the ratings for that particular comment. Should the ratings for the comment go too far negative, it will get hidden from view automatically.

Submitting News

Submitting news is fairly straight forward. For each portal, there is a link on the left menu where you may chose to submit news. New with this version of the website is that absolutely anyone can submit news to any of the portals. Once on the submit page, which should look something like this:
submitnews
fill in each of the fields. Focus, Typic and Type are all dropdown boxes which needs to be selected. The title field is the actual title of the post which will show on the main page of the site aswell as the intended portal for the news.

Submit code for: News, Wiki, Comments, Forum Replies

As our input boxes and page generator uses the same code-processor to interpret the text you submitted, there is no difference in the code for putting links or images in news than wiki pages. Below is some expamples of how to format the code.

First up is links. There are 2 different types of links that you may use, and they are as follows:
